What is Qurbani?
Qurbani (also called Udhiya) is the sacrifice of a permitted animal during the days of Eid-ul-Adha (10th–13th of Dhul Hijjah), commemorating the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim ﷺ to sacrifice his son in obedience to Allah. It is a confirmed Sunnah for those who can afford it.
The meat is traditionally shared in three parts — for one's family, for relatives and friends, and for the poor. When you give your Qurbani through Imdaad Foundation, the share for the poor reaches families in Kashmir who seldom eat meat.

Qurbani — your questions answered
- When is Qurbani performed?
- Qurbani is performed during the days of Eid-ul-Adha — from after the Eid prayer on the 10th of Dhul Hijjah until sunset on the 13th. Giving before or after these days does not fulfil the Qurbani.
- Who is Qurbani obligatory for?
- Qurbani is a confirmed Sunnah (wajib according to some scholars) for every adult Muslim who possesses wealth above the Nisab on the days of Eid, beyond their essential needs.
- How is the meat distributed?
- The meat is distributed fresh to poor families in Kashmir during the days of Eid. Every case is verified on the ground by our team in Kashmir before any distribution.
