Support a Widow in Kashmir
A widow left without income often holds an entire family together alone. Your support gives her the means to feed her children and stand on her own feet with dignity.
About this giving
What is Widow Support?
The Prophet ﷺ said that the one who strives to support a widow and the poor is like one who strives in the path of Allah. Supporting widows is among the most emphasised forms of charity in Islam.
In Kashmir, many women are left as the sole providers for their households with little or no income. Our widow support provides monthly rations and, where possible, the means to build a small livelihood — so a family does not slide from grief into destitution.
This cause is Zakat-eligible — you can fulfil it from your Zakat. Learn about Zakat.

Questions & Answers
Widow Support — your questions answered
- Is widow support eligible for Zakat?
- Yes. A widow with insufficient income to meet her family's basic needs falls within the Zakat categories of al-fuqara (the poor) and al-masakin (the needy), so your Zakat may be used to support her.
- What kind of help do widows receive?
- Support typically includes monthly rations and, where appropriate, help toward a small livelihood so the family can become self-reliant. Every case is verified on the ground by our team in Kashmir before any distribution.
- Can I support a widow every month?
- Yes. Recurring monthly support is the most stabilising form of help for a widow's household. You can set this up through our monthly donor programme.
